IGP to Announce Risk Allowance or Salary Increments for Police Officers

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Inspector General of Police (IGP), Attorney-at-Law Priyantha Weerasuriya says that steps are being taken to provide a risk allowance for police officers.

According to IGP Weerasuriya measures will be implemented in the future to either increase the basic salaries of police officers or introduce a risk allowance. 

Additionally IGP Weerasuriya said it has been noted that there is a salary discrepency in salary allowances given to police officers. Accordingly under the supervision of Ministry of Finance and leadership of a sub committee appointed to improve salary benefits of police officers, steps will be taken accordingly to either increase the basic salaries of police officers or introduce a risk allowance.
