CID Ordered to Conduct Full Investigation into False Online Report on President AKD

COLOMBO (News 1st):Colombo Chief Magistrate Thilina Gamage today ordered the Criminal Investigation Department to conduct a full investigation into the incident of a false report on the President being circulated online, during the Presidential election period. 

The Chief Magistrate further ordered the CID to arrest suspects connected to the incident. 

The Criminal Investigation Department is carrying out an investigation into a false report on President Anura Kumara Dissanayake's health situation, that was circulated online, prior to the 2024 Presidential election. 

The investigation was launched in response to a complaint filed by Attorney-at-Law Sunil Watagala. 

Presenting an investigation report, the Criminal Investigation Department informed court that further investigations into the incident are currently underway.
