13 Suspects Arrested for Illegal Treasure Hunting

COLOMBO (News 1st): Thirteen individuals have been arrested for allegedly engaging in treasure hunting at a temple in the Mapitigama area of Dompe. According to the police, the suspects were caught digging for treasure within the temple premises, and a range of excavation equipment was seized during the operation.

The authorities also impounded a car, a van, and two three-wheelers, which were used by the suspects in carrying out the illegal excavation activities.

The arrested individuals, who were between the ages 22 to 58, are residents of various areas, including Heiantuduwa, Siambalape, Malwana, Imbulgoda, Dompe, Kegalle, Homagama, Kaduwela, Kirindivela, Ambanwala, and Hanwella.

The police are continuing further investigations into the case.
