Over 80,000 Dengue Cases Reported so far; Observes Gradual Reduction in Cases

COLOMBO (News 1st): The National Dengue Control Unit states that a decrease in reported dengue cases is being observed.

Its Director, Dr. Kapila Kannangara, stated that this trend is being observed in the Colombo, Gampaha, Ratnapura, Galle, and Matara districts, where dengue cases were previously reported rapidly.

He pointed out that the mosquito larva density has also decreased to some extent.

Dr. Kapila Kannangara stated that 172 high-risk dengue Medical Officer of Health (MOH) divisions have been identified.

He stated that dengue control programs are continuing in 63 of these high-risk MOH divisions.

The number of reported dengue cases so far this year has risen to 82,838.

The National Dengue Control Unit stated that 61 dengue patients have died so far.
