COLOMBO (News 1st): Eight drivers and a conductor who were found to be operating buses under the influence of drugs have been arrested.
They were apprehended during a raid conducted jointly by officers of the Kalutara South Police Station and the National Transport Medical Institute.
The police stated that they were arrested during inspections carried out at several locations within the Kalutara South police division.
The suspects, aged between 35 and 57, are residents of Payagala, Yatiyana, Dodangoda, Tebuwana, Meegahatenna, and Kalutara South.
Police said that operations to arrest drivers operating vehicles under the influence of drugs have been expanded at present.
