Man Arrested for Aiding Escape of Gang Member's Partner

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police have arrested a man accused of assisting the partner of an individual alleged to be a member of an organised crime gang, identified as “Modara Nipuna,” to travel abroad.

The arrest was made when the suspect returned to Sri Lanka after being overseas, according to police. Authorities confirmed that an arrest warrant had already been issued against him prior to his detention.

The suspect is a resident of the Kadawatha area.

Following his arrest, he was produced before court and subsequently remanded in custody until the 21st, police said.
