COLOMBO (News 1st) - A Russian delegation, led by the Health Minister of Russia Mikhail Murashko, is scheduled to arrive in the island for a three-day official visit.
The delegation led by Health Minister of Russia Mikhail Murashko, is set to arrive on the 3rd of May.
During the visit, the Russian delegation will hold special discussions with the Minister of Health and Mass Media, Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, on strengthening relations and cooperation in the health sector between Russia and Sri Lanka.
Additionally, talks are scheduled with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism, Vijitha Herath.
On the 4th of May, the Health Minister of Russia and the delegation is expected to conduct observation tours at the National Hospital of Colombo and the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Colombo.
A statement issued by the Health Ministry noted that several Memorandum of Understanding's are expected to be reached between the two Health Ministries during these engagements.
The visit will focus on expanding cooperation across several areas of the health sector, including pharmaceuticals and medical equipment, specialist and advanced medical training, academic collaboration such as student exchange programs and joint courses, as well as Ayurveda and health tourism.
