COLOMBO (News 1st); Attorney-at-law Thamara Aberathna, who was being detained for questioning over allegations of aiding and abetting the Ganemulla Sanjeewa murder, has been remanded until May 7 by the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court.
Aberathna had been held in detention on suspicion of assisting suspects connected to the killing of Ganemulla Sanjeewa.
The allegations are linked to claims that she provided support to suspects who allegedly posed as lawyers when appearing before the Colombo Magistrate’s Court in connection with the murder.
Police investigations focus on allegations that the suspects, identified as shooter Commando Salintha and Ishara Sewwandi, appeared in court disguised as legal professionals, and that Tamara Aberathna had aided and abetted them in assuming a lawyer’s guise.
Following her production before court after the period of detention, the Colombo Chief Magistrate ordered that Thamara Aberathna be remanded until May 7.
