COLOMBO (News 1st) - A new circular has been issued to the heads of all state institutions, mandating the use of Information Technology (IT) tools to streamline government operations.

The directive was issued under the signature of S. Aloka Bandara, Secretary to the Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils, Local Government, and Labour.

According to the circular, digitizing services aim to resolve numerous challenges faced by the public in accessing state services and by employees in providing them.

Instructions in the circular include the use of online meetings, remote work programs, and electronic signatures.

Official document exchange is encouraged via modern platforms such as Email and WhatsApp.

The circular has been formulated based on guidelines provided by the Ministry of Digital Economy.
