COLOMBO(News 1st); The Ministry of Transport and Highways says that train services on the Upcountry Railway between Nanuoya and Ambewela will resume in about two and a half months.
Due to Cyclone Ditva, landslides, ground subsidence, and soil collapses were reported at 14 locations between Nanuoya and Ambewela.
Of these, repairs have been completed at 13 locations so far.
Only the section between Elgin Falls and Ambewela Railway Station remains to be repaired.
Renovation work in that section is currently being carried out by railway workers.
The Ministry of Transport stated that the work will be completed promptly, after which train services will resume.
