COLOMBO (News 1st) - President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has instructed officials from Ministries and Heads of Institutions to explore the possibility of maintaining essential fuel reserves at the regional level, specifically for vital sectors such as healthcare.
This directive was given at a meeting held with Ministry Secretaries and Heads of Institutions yesterday at the Presidential Secretariat to discuss challenges in maintaining essential services due to the conflict in the Middle East region.
The discussion focused specifically on sectors such as health, education, industry, agriculture, and fisheries.
During the meeting, Ministry Secretaries briefed the President on the updated fuel requirements within their respective fields.
After reviewing the concerns, the President issued several key directives to ensure national stability.
Accordingly, President Dissanayake also advised Secretaries to consider the feasibility of remote work.
Noting that future developments remain unpredictable, President emphasized the necessity of being prepared for any situation.
Additionally, President Dissanayake instructed officials to identify and rectify current deficiencies in the QR system and highlighted the need to streamline the existing QR system to manage the available fuel stocks effectively.
