COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation says fuel will be issued to all ambulances under a special priority category.

Director General of CPC, Dr. Mayura Neththikumarage says under this system, ambulances will be able to obtain fuel both from CPC depots and filling stations.

The nationwide QR-based fuel distribution system came into effect yesterday from 6:00 a.m.

Under the QR system, the amount of fuel that each individual can obtain has been limited to a fixed weekly quota.

The weekly allocation for Motorcycles is: 5 Litres, Cars and Three-wheelers: 15 Litres, Vans and Special Purpose Vehicles: 40 Litres, Lorries: 200 Litres and Buses: 60 Litres

Authorities say that individuals previously registered under the QR system, provided there are no changes to the vehicle ownership or phone number can continue using their existing registration through the website - fuelpass.gov.lk,

However, newly registered vehicles or those with changes in ownership or phone numbers must re-register through the same website.

According to the Ministry of Digital Economy, for issues related to the process or for further information, the public can contact the Government Information Centre via the 1919 hotline.
