COLOMBO (News 1st) – The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation says 57,000 metric tons of diesel have been released for public consumption through filling stations within the first 10 days since the start of the Middle East conflict.
During the same period, 47,000 metric tons of petrol have been distributed.
CPC said two shipments carrying fuel stock were included in this supply, and was released within just nine days due to the sharp increase in demand and emphasized that this is an amount usually issued over one and a half months.
Meanwhile, the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation says a nationwide stock and sales verification process has begun at all fuel stations across the island starting today.
Under this process, authorities will compare the amount of fuel supplied to each station with the quantity sold under the QR code system, he emphasized that collecting and verifying this data has already been designed and tested.
CPC warned that strict action will be taken for any discrepancies, including the possible cancellation of a station’s operating license.
