Police Bust Crime Duo with T56 Rifle & Meth

COLOMBO (News 1st); Kalutara Range Crimes Investigation Unit arrested two suspects in connection with illegal firearms and narcotics possession in the Arukgoda area of Panadura and Batuwita, Horana.

Police confirmed that the suspects were found in possession of a T56 assault rifle, a magazine with 30 rounds of ammunition, seven mobile phones, and a motorcycle believed to have been used in criminal activities.

One of the suspects, identified by the alias “Embilipitiye Suranga,” was apprehended while carrying 5 grams of Ice (methamphetamine). His motorcycle and drugs were taken into police custody.

Following his interrogation, Suranga revealed that the firearm used by another suspect, known as Panadura Nilanga, had been hidden in a residence in Batuwita, Horana. 

Acting on this information, police raided the location and recovered the T56 rifle, magazine, ammunition, and mobile phones.
