Sampur Grid Substation Breaks Ground

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ministry of Power and Energy has officially commenced construction of a new grid substation in Sampur, marking a significant step toward strengthening Sri Lanka’s renewable energy infrastructure.

The project was launched under the leadership of Minister of Power and Energy, Eng. Kumara Jayakody, and is expected to serve as a central transmission hub for renewable energy generated in the Eastern Province. 

According to ministry officials, the substation is designed to enhance the reliability and stability of the national power grid by integrating high-potential renewable energy sources from the region.
