Shasheendra Rajapaksa Admitted To Prison Hospital

COLOMBO(News 1st); Former State Minister Shasheendra Rajapaksa, who is currently in remand custody, has been admitted to the prison hospital. The Prisons Department said that it was due to a sudden illness.

Rajapaksa was arrested by the Bribery Commission on August 6th on charges under the Public Property Act and was ordered by court to be remanded until the 12th.

He has been accused of pressuring officials of the reparations office to obtain compensation of Rs. 8,850,000 for property after an unauthorized building, constructed on land belonging to the Mahaweli Authority in Sevanagala, was destroyed during the 'Aragalaya' Period
