COLOMBO (News 1st) - President Anura Kumara Dissanayake is currently on a three-day state visit to Vietnam.
He arrived in Vietnam yesterday at the invitation of Vietnamese President Luong Cuong.
As part of his official engagements, President Dissanayake is scheduled to meet with the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam today and hold discussions with members of the country’s trade and business community.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Arun Hemachandra confirmed that several bilateral trade agreements are set to be signed between Sri Lanka's Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath and Vietnamese representatives during the visit.
The President is also expected to pay homage to the historic Bai Dinh Temple today.
A key highlight of the visit will be President Dissanayake’s participation as the chief guest at the United Nations Day of Vesak celebrations in Ho Chi Minh City, where he is scheduled to deliver the keynote address.
Additionally, he will hold meetings with the President, Prime Minister, and senior diplomats of Vietnam.
The state visit will conclude on May 6.
