Elephant Who Lost Tusk After Collision With Lorry, Alive!

COLOMBO (News 1st); An elephant that was injured in a collision with a lorry on the Habarana-Maradankadawala road near Galapitagala has been found by wildlife officers this (14) morning near an irrigation tank in the Labunoruwa area of the Thirappane Divisional Secretariat.

On 7th March, a elephant, running alongside another, collided with a moving lorry.

During the investigation, an elephant tusk was found on the road.

Following the accident, several teams of wildlife officers were deployed to search for the injured elephant. 

The elephant was discovered this morning, resting near the tank. Wildlife officers have observed that the elephant is currently with its herd.

The necessary medical treatment will be provided by the Pandulagama Wildlife Veterinary Team to ensure the elephant's recovery, said the Department of Wildlife Conservation.
