Election Officials Summoned for Crucial Pre-Election Meeting

COLOMBO (News 1st); District Returning Officers and District Assistant Election Commissioners have been summoned to Colombo. 

Election Commissioner General, Saman Sri Ratnayake, announced that a meeting will be held with them at the Election Commission this Saturday. 

The discussions will focus on planning the upcoming local government elections and addressing any related issues.

Meanwhile, the National Election Commission has announced that the deadline for submitting applications for postal voting in the local government elections is midnight on the 12th of this month. 

The Commission has issued a statement urging eligible voters to submit their completed applications to the District Election Office before the deadline. 

The statement also emphasized that the deadline for postal voting applications will not be extended.

Applications for postal voting can also be obtained from the official website of the Election Commission. 

Additionally, the submission of nominations for the local government elections will commence on the 17th of this month.
