Ex-Council Member Further Remanded Over Bribery Charge

COLOMBO (News 1st): Former Western Provincial Council member Salochana Gamage and Dushanta Dinesh Ratnayake,have been further remanded until the January 27.

That was after being produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court.

They were arrested while allegedly accepting a bribe of 9 million rupees to facilitate compensation for a plot of land in Torrington Avenue, which had been handed over to the Urban Development Authority.

They were arrested by a group of officials of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.
