We Will Combat Corruption Through Political Leadership - PM

COLOMBO (News 1st); Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya has stated that the current government is actively working to eliminate corruption through political leadership.

Dr. Amarasuriya noted that during economic collapses, attention often focuses on the most vulnerable segments of society. 

However, she emphasized that professionals and the middle class have also been significantly impacted by the economic crisis. 

These groups have faced considerable difficulties in maintaining their livelihoods due to the tax policies implemented during the economic downturn.

Dr. Amarasuriya stressed the importance of organizing conditions to help professionals, the middle class, and business owners rebuild their lives and economic stability. 

She noted that stabilizing the banking system and providing opportunities for businesses to thrive are crucial steps in this process.

Additionally, she said the government is committed to mitigating the impact of tax policies on professionals and offering relief through economic policies.

The Prime Minister reiterated the government's dedication to combating corruption through political leadership, ensuring that corruption is eradicated from the political system and state institutions. She expressed optimism that the changes implemented in the past month are already yielding visible results.
