Central Expressway Construction Resumes Between Kadawatha and Mirigama

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Ministry of Transport and Highways has announced the resumption of construction on the Central Expressway section between Kadawatha and Mirigama, funded by local aids.

Secretary K.D.S. Ruwanchandra said that Rs. 7.5 billion will be allocated for the first phase of construction. 

A cabinet paper has already been submitted for this purpose.

The project will be undertaken by the companies currently selected for the construction.

This section spans 37 kilometers and includes three inter-changes.

Work initially began in 2020 but was halted midway due to the economic crisis.
