Sri Lankans In Northern Israel Informed To Take Safety Measures Due To Hezbullah Attacks

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Israel informed the Sri Lankans in northern Israel to take appropriate safety measures, in the face of growing Hezbollah attacks in the region.

The Embassy said there are about 2,000 Sri Lankans working in the northern region of Israel.

They are reported to be engaged in jobs in the agricultural and care-taking sectors.

The Sri Lankan Ambassador to Israel said that Israeli authorities have reported that 15,000 acres of dry grassland and cropland have burned to the ground following a series of rocket and drone attacks launched from Lebanon in response to Israel's attack on a senior Hezbollah Commander.

The Sri Lankan Embassy in Israel said that due to the prevailing severe dry spell, the fires have spread to many areas and Israeli firemen are taking steps to control the situation.

In view of this situation, the Sri Lankan Embassy in Israel informs that residents of the region should constantly pay attention to their safety and not exit their workplaces except for essential matters.

The Embassy informed the residents to contact it for assistance, in case of emergency.
