COLOMBO (News 1st): 32 Sri Lankans have sought refuge at the Sri Lankan Embassy in Lebanon, due to the ongoing situation in Lebanon.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the Sri Lankan Embassy in Beirut is providing necessary assistance to them. The embassy is also maintaining continuous communication with the Sri Lankans in the area.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs further assured that no Sri Lankan citizen has faced any adverse consequences due to the conflict so far.
Meanwhile, the Sri Lankan Embassy in Israel announced that flights from Sri Lanka to Israel have resumed usual operations.
The embassy noted that flights from Dubai and Abu Dhabi to Israel, which were suspended for two days due to missile attacks by Iran, resumed yesterday.
However, the embassy advised those planning to travel to Israel to check with the relevant authorities about the status of their flights before heading to the airport.
In addition, Lebanon's Ministry of Health reported that over 2,000 people have died as a result of the Israeli attacks, including 127 children and 261 women.
The conflict further intensified due to organized attacks by Israel targeting pagers and other communication facilities of Hezbollah.
