COLOMBO (News 1st): The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) will begin its oral public consultations on the electricity tariff revision proposal starting December 27.

These consultations will be held across all nine provinces of Sri Lanka.

The first consultation will take place in Kandy for the Central Province on December 27.

Subsequent consultations include:
Uva Province: December 31 in Monaragala
Sabaragamuwa Province: January 3 in Ratnapura
North Central Province: January 5 in Anuradhapura
Northern Province: January 6 in Jaffna
Eastern Province: January 8 in Batticaloa
Western Province: January 10 in Colombo

The PUCSL's draft proposal suggests an approximate 11% reduction in electricity tariffs.

However, the Ceylon Electricity Board has countered with a proposal to maintain the current tariff rates unchanged for the first six months of 2025.
