Election Commission Confirms Five Nominations For The General Elections

COLOMBO (News 1st): The election commission says that five nominations for the 2024 general elections were submitted by a recognized political party and three independent groups.

Accordingly, the Janasetha Peramuna Party has submitted nominations for the Jaffna and Vanni Electoral Districts, while three independent groups have submitted nominations for the Colombo, Kalutara, and Batticaloa electoral districts.

Additionally, the total number of independent groups that have placed bonds for the 2024 general elections stands at 122.

A special security program will be implemented during the nomination period for the 2024 general elections. 

The police said that rallies on the final days of nomination submissions will not be allowed.

Nominations for the 2024 general elections will be accepted until the October 11, 2024.

The 2024 general elections are scheduled to take place on November 14, 2024.
