COLOMBO (News 1st); Actress and model, Piumi Hansamali appeared at the Illegal Assets Investigation Division of the Criminal Investigations Department on Monday (1) to provide a statement.

A complaint had been filed with the CID citing that Hansamali had generated a revenue to the tune of millions of rupees, through suspicious means.

"I was summoned to provide statement, by the illegal assets investigating division. I am here to provide that statement," she told the media upon her arrival at the CID unit.

"I am here with whatever documents that I prepared. I also have bank statements for around 25,000 orders. The people can decide. My cream pack alone is Rs. 35,000/-. They can do the math and determine how Piumi Hansamali earned money," she added.

Piumi Hansamali stressed that she had done nothing wrong.

"I have not done anything wrong. So, I am here without any fear. People who do wrong things, should be afraid. Those who do wrong things, and wrong business deals should always be afraid. I learnt something, and I am doing a small business, selling creams. I did all my transactions via the banks. I was aware that I will have to face such issues. Even the Cash On Delivery orders were processed by the banks. So, the people get to know whether Piumi Hansamali actually earned money by selling drugs or using black money," she said.

She also noted that she purchased the Range Rover, one used by Former Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, from a car sale.

'Am I not allowed to earn money and purchase houses, and branded products? I can. I have not taken money from the people of this country. I earned money from my business," she said.
