COLOMBO (News 1st); In a formal ceremony held this (1) morning, Senior Additional Solicitor General President's Counsel, Parinda Ranasinghe took the oath of office as the Acting Attorney General.
Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya administered the swearing-in.
Parinda Ranasingh assumes the role following the retirement of Sanjay Rajaratnam from the position of Attorney General on the 26th of June.
The Senior Additional Solicitor General was appointed as the Acting Attorney-General by the President.
With an impressive 31-year career in legal service, Parinda Ranasinghe has held various key positions, including Senior State Counsel, Deputy Solicitor General, Additional Solicitor General, and Senior Additional Solicitor General.
Notably, Acting Attorney General Parinda Ranasinghe is the son of the late K. A. Parinda Ranasinghe, who served as the 38th Chief Justice of Sri Lanka, from 1988 to 1991
