Expressway security handed to Rakna Arakshaka

COLOMBO (News 1st); The internal security and rescue operations of expressways have been handed to Rakna Arakshaka Lanka Limited (RALL).

The decision was reached after the Police Special Task Force which was carrying out these duties thus far stepped down.

The Road Development Authority said officers of Rakna Arakshaka Lanka Limited were deployed for road safety since Wednesday (13).

The RDA said the security operations were handed over at an expense of around Rs.12 million per month.

However, the RDA said the security and rescue operations of the section between Mirigama and Kurunegala along the Central Expressway were assigned to local authorities.
