MP Chamara Sampath Arrested by CIABOC

COLOMBO (News 1st): Badulla District Parliamentarian Chamara Sampath Dassanayake has been arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) in connection with investigations into four alleged bribery-related incidents.

Dassanayake had arrived at the Bribery Commission on Monday after being summoned by the Commission as part of its ongoing investigations.

The Commission had previously notified the parliamentarian to appear before it last Friday. However, he had failed to appear on that occasion.

Following his appearance before investigators today, officials of the Bribery Commission placed him under arrest in relation to the ongoing probes.
