Shiran Basik Brought Back to Sri Lanka as Multiple Investigations Continue

COLOMBO (News 1st); Shiran Basik, a major drug trafficking suspect who had fled the country and been hiding in Dubai, was brought back to Sri Lanka last night.

The 48-year-old Shiran Basik is a resident of Dehiwala.

Investigations are underway against him by the Police Narcotics Bureau, as well as the Dehiwala and Mount Lavinia police stations, in connection with drug trafficking.

Investigations are also being conducted by the Mount Lavinia and Dehiwala police stations into allegations that he was in possession of firearms.

Additionally, investigations are being conducted by the Piliyandala Police Station into the suspect’s possession of serious and sharp weapons, while the Colombo Crime Division is investigating allegations of membership in an unlawful assembly and the commission of mischief.

Police stated that further investigations will also be conducted into illegal assets allegedly amassed by the suspect through drug trafficking and other organized criminal activities.

The police further stated that any further investigations concerning the suspect will be conducted in accordance with the orders and instructions of the Inspector General of Police.
