Dengue Cases Surge Past 58,000 As Colombo Remains Worst-Affected District

COLOMBO (News 1st):The National Dengue Control Unit said that 3,422 dengue patients have been reported within the first few days of this month alone.

The number of dengue patients identified during the past period is 58,810.

The death toll has also increased to 39.

The National Dengue Control Unit announced that the number of high-risk Medical Officer of Health (MOH) divisions has risen to 142.

The highest number of identified dengue patients has been reported from the Colombo District as 12,017.

As a percentage, the National Dengue Control Unit stated that this accounts for 20.43 percent of all dengue patients.

Meanwhile, the three-day mosquito control program initiated under the guidance of the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government concludes today.
