COLOMBO (News 1st): The main suspect and his wife, who were arrested in connection with the discovery of a woman's body inside a parked car in the Teldeniya area, are scheduled to be produced before the Nuwara Eliya Magistrate's Court today (25th).
Police said detention orders will be sought for further questioning following their court appearance.
The suspects were arrested yesterday (24th) while travelling on a bus from Colombo to Jaffna during a joint operation conducted by the Nuwara Eliya Police, the Walana Anti-Corruption Unit, and the Criminal Investigation Department.
According to police, the 43-year-old male suspect and his 35-year-old wife, both residents of Pallekele, are suspected of attempting to flee to India.
Meanwhile, a driver attached to the Kundasale Pradeshiya Sabha was also arrested yesterday in connection with the incident.
Police say investigations have revealed that the suspect had provided transport and accommodation to the main suspect.
The car and a motorcycle believed to have been used in the incident are currently in police custody.
The body of the victim, a 33-year-old woman from Weligama, who was employed as a physiotherapist at the Ampara Hospital, was discovered inside a parked car in the Teldeniya area on the 17th of June.
