COLOMBO (News 1st); The Colombo Magistrate’s Court has fixed October 17 as the date to deliver the final verdict in the case involving the alleged forcible removal of the crown from Pushpika De Silva during the Mrs. World pageant held at the Nelum Pokuna Theatre.
The order was issued today (22) by Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama, following the conclusion of all evidentiary proceedings related to the incident.
Two individuals have been named as accused in the case, Caroline Jurie, a former Mrs. World titleholder, and Chula Padmendra, a fashion designer.
The charges relate to an incident that took place during the 2021 Mrs. World grand finale, where Pushpika De Silva was declared the winner and crowned on stage.
According to the case presented before court, the two accused allegedly approached the stage during the crowning moment, physically assaulted De Silva, and forcibly removed her crown.
Court proceedings confirmed that the recording of evidence and examination of witnesses had been fully completed during previous hearing dates.
With all submissions now concluded, the Magistrate informed court that the final ruling will be delivered on the next scheduled date.
