Four Remanded Over Assault On Police In Avissawella

COLOMBO (News 1st): Four suspects arrested for obstructing police officers in the line of duty have been remanded until 03 July. 

They were remanded following their appearance before the Avissawella Magistrate’s Court.

The suspects were arrested on Friday 19 June for being members of an unlawful assembly, assaulting four police officers, causing them injuries, and obstructing their duties.

Police stated that the suspects, who were receiving treatment for injuries sustained during the clash at the Avissawella Hospital, were produced before the Avissawella Magistrate yesterday afternoon.

Additionally, 24,900 milligrams of 'Ice' (methamphetamine) found in the possession of the suspects were taken into police custody.
