Dengue Cases Rise To 45,756 Nationwide

COLOMBO (News 1st): The National Dengue Control Unit states that 263 schools have been identified as having mosquito larvae.

Entomologist Sakunthala Janaki stated that 633 schools have been inspected this year.

Schools, government institutions, and religious places have been identified as the most common breeding grounds for mosquitoes.

The number of Medical Officer of Health (MOH) areas at risk of dengue outbreak is 112.

The National Dengue Control Unit mentioned that the highest spread of dengue is reported from the Maharagama Medical Officer of Health area.

In addition, the Panadura area in the Kalutara District and the Biyagama area in the Gampaha District have also been identified as Medical Officer of Health areas where dengue is spreading rapidly.

The number of dengue patients reported in the country so far this year is 45,756.

The National Dengue Control Unit also stated that this is a clear increase compared to the years 2024 and 2025.
