Vijitha Herath Meets Belarus Counterpart to Expand Bilateral Engagement

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka’s Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath held a constructive bilateral meeting with Maxim Ryzhenkov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, during his official visit to Belarus.

The discussions focused on strengthening relations between Sri Lanka and Belarus across a wide range of sectors, including political, economic, educational, cultural, and people-to-people cooperation.

Both sides agreed on the need to enhance engagement through regular dialogue, with plans to convene political consultations and the Intergovernmental Commission (IGC) on Trade and Economic Cooperation later this year.

The meeting comes as Sri Lanka and Belarus mark the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
