Special Commission to Address Public Sector Salary Disparities and Performance Under 2026 Budget

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Deputy Minister of Labour Mahinda Jayasinghe says the process of establishing a special commission to enhance the salaries and professionalism of Sri Lanka’s public sector employees in relation to the 2026 Budget, has commenced. 

He stated that the commission is expected to address long-standing issues related to salary disparities and professionalism that have existed in the public sector for decades.

The establishment of a commission to improve salary disparities and professionalism in the public sector was announced by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake in the budget presented for the year 2026.
