Fishing Vessel Owner Arrested Over 161 Kilograms Of Heroin Haul

COLOMBO (News 1st);The owner of the multi-day fishing vessel seized by the Navy in the southern seas with 161 kilograms of heroin has been arrested.
Police stated that officers from the Police Narcotic Bureau (PNB) apprehended the suspect in Dondra.
A total of 161 kilograms of heroin had been packed into 150 packets and concealed within six large sacks. The estimated street value exceeds 4 billion rupees.
The vessel had set sail from the Nilwella Fisheries Harbour in Matara on March 30.
It was intercepted on April 16 and brought to the Dikowita Harbour yesterday.
