IMF–Central Bank Talks Begin on Next EFF Tranche

COLOMBO (News 1st): Discussions between representatives of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and Central Bank officials are set to commence today. 

These talks pertain to the 6th installment of the Extended fund facility scheduled to be granted to the country. 

Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Nishantha Jayaweera, stated that these discussions will be held in several stages, with the sessions scheduled to take place from today until the 9th of this month.

To date, the IMF has released five tranches under the extended fund facility to the country.

During the upcoming meetings, a comprehensive review will be conducted regarding the steps taken by the government to meet IMF conditions and improve the country's economic performance.

It is further noted that following the conclusion of these discussions, the necessary agreements are expected to be reached regarding the release of the sixth loan installment.
