IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva Visits Gampola to Assess Cyclone Damage

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, Kristalina Georgieva, who arrived in the country yesterday visited Gampola this morning, to observe the damages caused by Cyclone Ditwah.

Gampola is one of the worst hit areas due to the devastation caused by Cyclone Ditwah. 

The Managing Director and her delegation arrived in country last afternoon. 

Upon her return to Colombo, she is scheduled to hold discussions today with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, Central Bank Governor Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe, and other high-ranking officials.

During these meetings, special focus will be placed on how the IMF support can be extended for Sri Lanka’s recovery following the disaster and assist in building a resilient future for all Sri Lankans.
