High-Ranking Transport Official Arrested By CIABOC

COLOMBO (News 1st); A former Deputy Commissioner of the Motor Traffic Department, who is currently serving at the Ministry of Finance’s Department of Trade and Investment Policies, has been taken into custody by officers of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.

According to the Commission, the arrest was made based on information received regarding an incident in which the former Deputy Commissioner had allegedly granted approval on 17 February 2017 for the irregular transfer of a motor vehicle that did not possess valid registration within the Motor Traffic Department.

The suspect is scheduled to be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court.
