COLOMBO (News 1st): The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) marked a significant leadership transition as Tishan Subasinghe was ceremonially inducted as the institution’s 28th President, ushering in a new chapter for the country’s premier accounting body.

The occasion saw outgoing President Heshana Kuruppu formally hand over responsibilities to Subasinghe in a traditional ceremony attended by industry leaders, professionals, and international representatives.

Adding prestige to the event, the President of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), Jean Bouquot, attended as Chief Guest.

In his inaugural address, CA Sri Lanka President Subasinghe underscored the organization’s expanding national mandate and its growing global influence. He stressed that CA Sri Lanka is firmly aligned with the country’s governance reforms, noting that the institute is “on a clear mission to support the Government’s adoption of accrual accounting.”

Delivering a keynote address, IFAC President Jean Bouquot positioned the accounting profession as a cornerstone of economic stability and societal trust.

He reminded the gathering that “professional accountants and auditors are builders of trust in markets, enablers of transparency and accountability, and contributors to the stability of our societies and ecosystems.”

Bouquot urged the profession to communicate its value to the next generation, highlighting that young professionals increasingly seek meaningful and impactful careers.
