Five Detained After Massive Drug Bust in Southern Seas

COLOMBO (News 1st): According to the police five suspects arrested with drugs in the southern sea have been detained and steps are being taken to interrogate the suspects.

The Navy brought the suspected vessel under its custody to the Dikwella port yesterday morning.

Five suspects aboard the vessel were also taken into custody.

The boat had set out to sea from Gandara on the 9th of December.

During the inspection of the vessel 170 parcels of drugs hidden in 11 sacks were discovered.

Among these parcels, a stock of over 172 kg of ice narcotics and over 21kg of heroin was found.
