COLOMBO (News 1st): The main suspect in relation to the case where a T-56 assault rifle and two magazines were found inside an abandoned car in Kurukulawa, Ragama, has been arrested.
The suspect was apprehended by the Police Special Task Force (STF) based on information given by the State Intelligence Service.
Police said that the suspect is aged 35 years old and a resident of the Dippitigoda, Kelaniya.
Investigations are underway to arrest several other suspects connected to the incident.
Further investigations are underway, under the directive of the Western Province North Crimes Division.
The case stems from the discovery of a T-56 firearm and two ammunition magazines on 23rd of December, during a search of a motor vehicle parked in the Kurukulawa area of Ragama.
Police noted that the vehicle, found based on a tip-off, had counterfeit license plates.
