Landslide Hits Meegolla, Badulla: Evacuations Underway

COLOMBO (News 1st) - A landslide has been reported in Meegolla, in Meegahakiwula, Badulla.

Meegolla Divisional Secretary Nirmala Kumuduni says that many families have already been moved to safer locations.

However, about 10 families have so far refused to evacuate.

Arrangements are being made to relocate them today.

With the North-East monsoon bringing rains to the Badulla district, Deputy Director of Disaster Management E. L. M. Udaya Kumara urged residents to evacuate immediately if they detect early signs of landslides.
