Sirasa, News 1st Honored for Going Green!

COLOMBO (News 1st); This morning (23), under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the 2025 Presidential Environmental Awards Ceremony was held at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall.

At this prestigious event, organized by the Central Environmental Authority under the theme “A Vision for a Beautiful Island and a Contented People,” several organizations were recognized for their contributions to environmental conservation in Sri Lanka.

The awards aim to honor industries, government and non-government organizations, schools, and community initiatives that have significantly contributed to building a clean, green, and sustainable nation. 

This year, awards were presented across 23 categories.

Key Highlights:

Television Media (Sinhala Category): The Bronze Award was won by Sirasa TV, represented by Director Asoka Dias.

Television Media (Sinhala – Merit Award): Secured by News 1st.

Radio Media (Sinhala Category): The Bronze Award was awarded to Sirasa FM.

Radio Media (Sinhala – Individual Category): The Gold Award went to Iroshan Sanjeewa Kumara Mendis of Sirasa FM.

Institutional Category (Merit Award): Won by S-Lon Lanka (Pvt) Ltd.
