COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police have recovered a cache of firearms hidden inside a motorcycle parked at the Colombo National Hospital, reportedly belonging to a minor staff member of the institution.
The operation was launched following a tip-off received via the 118 emergency hotline, prompting officers to inspect the hospital’s parking area.
Upon searching the motorcycle, authorities found five T56 assault rifle bullets and three 9mm bullets concealed within.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is now probing whether the weapons were smuggled and hidden by an external party, or if they are directly linked to the hospital employee in question.
