COLOMBO (News 1st): 46 rounds of ammunition used for a T-56 assault rifle have been discovered in paddy fields across Kanadarawa area in Kallanchiya.
According to Police, the ammunition rounds were recovered yesterday evening, following a tip-off received through the 119 emergency hotline.
Police added that the recovered ammunition rounds appeared to be partially corroded at the time of discovery.
Meanwhile, police have recovered a locally manufactured 9mm firearm in Dematagoda, along with a magazine containing two T-56 bullets.
According to the police, officers from the Western Province South Crimes Division made the discovery during an operation carried out on a vacant plot of land near the Kelani Valley railway line in Dematagoda.
Police said investigations have been launched to identify the owner of the firearm and ammunition.
