Colombo (News 1st);Trade unions today warned that the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) will not allow the board’s restructuring process or its regular operations to proceed beyond the 21st unless their demands are met.
The warning came as union members staged a protest outside the CEB head office this afternoon.
Trade unions affiliated with opposition political parties, including the Engineers' Association, have already launched trade union action, outlining their demands for benefits during the restructuring process.
Several union members, citing sick leave, participated in the protest, blocking one lane of Chittampalam A. Gardiner Mawatha.
The resulting traffic congestion affected daily commuters, including vehicles transporting school children.
